1 Corinthians 12:18 (CSB) – But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts of the body just as he wanted.
It is a blessing that we are uniquely created by God, given by Him differing gifts and talents. Understanding that, we do well to remember that He arranges us in Christ’s body that is the Church according to His plans and purposes, not ours. Understanding that, rather than trying to conform others to our uniqueness, in terms of gifts and talents, let us remember that God places each of us in the body as He desires. Understanding that, may we ever recognize and appreciate that He uniquely made us to function and flow together not focus on differences in a manner that creates strife and divisions.
May we always remember: Ears should not look down upon eyes for not being ears and vice versa. Feet should not look down upon hands for not being feet and vice versa. Apostles and prophets should not look down upon evangelists, pastors, and teachers for not being apostles and prophets and vice versa. Praise and worship leaders should not look down upon those serving in other functions and vice versa. Those blessed by God with the word of wisdom or the word of knowledge should not look down upon those blessed with other gifts of the Spirit and vice versa. Those graced to exhort should not look down upon those graced to give and vice versa.
Rather, let us thank and praise God for how He has uniquely created each of us and placed us in Christ’s body, the Church. Compelled by love, empowered by the Spirit, and working in unity, may we fully accomplish His plans and purposes.
